West Coast Taco Bar

I was in the Elk Grove area and was craving some tacos so I looked up some places on Yelp to see what the best places were. I came across West Coast Taco bar which had raving reviews and I just had to see what all the fuss was about. When I arrived I was surprised to see that it was a pretty small restaurant located in a small grocery store plaza tucked away from some of the more trafficked areas nearby. Despite being a bit hidden, I found West Coast Taco bar to be a place that is certainly worth the acclaim that it has gotten. In fact, I’d highly recommend you go and check them out for yourselves!

West Coast Taco bar has a clean and well-kept dining area. When you enter the restaurant you’ll be greeted by their beautiful menus displayed clearly with monitors. The staff was very helpful in recommending food items to me as I told them it was my first visit to the restaurant. Everything on the menu looked great, so I ended up ordering a bit more than I knew I’d be able to finish. Thankfully, that just meant I’d have leftovers for another meal later on.

Obviously, being a taco bar you’d better get some tacos. Their assortment of tacos isn’t huge, but you can tell that each taco has been specifically crafted to be unique. The most traditional taco has to be the asada taco. This taco has citrus and spice marinated steak in a corn tortilla dipped in their Diablo salsa with onion and cilantro. It was everything you’d expect and want from a really solid asada taco.

The Sac Town Fire Tacos come with garlic shrimp in a red mole tortilla with cilantro slaw, chipotle sauce, and cotija cheese. I’m typically not a seafood taco guy, but this taco really peaked my curiosity. The shrimp in the taco was great and head a meatiness that was satisfying.

If you’re a fan of birria, go for the Dirty Diana. It contains their Sac Town Fire mole tortilla with melted Monterey Jack along with tomatillo salsa, marinated onion, and cilantro.

Besides these tacos they also have a chicken adobada taco, Korean style tacos, an awesome corn and poblano vegetarian taco, a special Anaheim themed pork taco, and a mushroom taco. Like I stated, each taco has its own unique flair and it I know that the chef who came up with these combinations must have spent an enormous amount of time getting the flavors just right.

If you’re a bit hungrier, West Coast Taco Bar features a burrito they call the Bitchin’ Cali. IT features garlic shrimp, fries, guac, cheese, pico, and chipotle sauce. You could also order their asada fries which comes with a generous portion of fries topped with beef, red onions, and all sorts of delicious ingredients.

One other food item I’d like to shout out is the Mexican street corn. This thing was a massive corn on a stick flavored with all the goodness. I’ve been looking for a great street corn to enjoy and this is really it. It’s too bad I’m not that close to Elk Grove typically so I can’t get this more often. It’s absolutely delicious.

And if you need something to drink, go for the coconut horchata. Coconut with horchata is like a no-brainer. I’m surprised I hadn’t had that combination before this visit.

If you love California flavors melded with Mexican staples, West Coast Taco Bar is a place you have to visit right away!
