Vons Chicken East Sacramento

KFC… no it’s not Kentucky Fried Chicken! KFC is Korean Fried Chicken… and it might just be the juiciest, crunchiest take on poultry ever! Infused with unique flavors and spices, if you like fried chicken, you owe it to yourself to try Vons Korean Fried Chicken. You may never go back to any other!

Vons in East Sacramento is a great place to eat and hang out. The dining area has a tap room feel with plenty of seating all around. You order food at their counter and then hang out until it’s ready. Looking at the menu you’ll find flavors like garlic, honey butter, and even cheddar! There are a number of options and each one is worthy of a selection. I really wanted to try multiple flavors - thankfully I can with a couple of friends so we all ordered different styles and got to try each one.

You can order the chicken in half or full orders. A half order about about $15-16 with the full order being about $30. I can’t say it’s the most budget friendly, but the entree is rather large and plentiful, so I’d say it is worth the asking price.

The food arrives beautifully presented with a little side of coleslaw and pickled veggies. The standout here is the flavor of the wings. Each bite gives you an intense, full bodied flavor that comes along with a satisfying crunch of the breading. The food is served piping hot and fresh.

If I did have any qualms about the food, the flavor profile is sweeter than how I would typically want things. I’m more of a savory person than a sweets person, so I definitely want more salt than sugar. All the chicken entrees we ordered had a bit of sweetness to them - even the regular crunch chicken without any extra flavorings. If you do lean into enjoying sweeter food, this might just be heaven though.

As for sides, there are also a ton to select from. You can get fries, onion rings, pot stickers… and even kimchi fried rice! And of course that’s what I went for as that is not something you could order from Kentucky Fried Chicken. I found the portion to be more than adequate and I even had to get a box to take some stuff home because the portion sizes were larger than expected.

I haven’t mentioned this at all, but there is another half to the Vons menu that features oven baked chicken with an entirely other set of flavor options. I’m not sure how popular the oven side is as in my opinion most people would pick fried over baked almost any day of the week, but the options for baked is there. I guess if you go to Vons religiously you could switch it up every so often.

Overall I really enjoyed my experience at Vons. There’s great atmosphere there and the chicken really stands on its own. If all you’ve know is fast food fried chicken, I’d really suggest giving Vons a chance. The quality is just so much better
