Saigon Oi

I really can’t say enough about Saigon Oi. This gem of a restaurant is the place to go for the highest quality, most unique Vietnamese food in town. The service is extremely friendly, helpful, and quick… and the dining area is bright and modern. This is a restaurant that I’d say you should not miss out on. Go there right now if you can!

Saigon Oi has its own take on Vietnamese food. If you’re used to eating at Vietnamese restaurants, this one is very different than those. The food here is elevated into a form that if familiar but different in exciting ways.

If you’re like me (and everyone else), you probably enjoy Bahn mi sandwiches. If you’re not in the know, a Bahn mi is a Vietnamese sandwich on a French roll. It’s typically filled with ingredients like pickled diakon and carrot, chilis, cucumbers, and a some meat and/or pate. Well, that’s not quite what you get at Saigon Oi. Instead, if you order their bahn mi chao, the ‘sandwich’ comes deconstructed in a bothy cast iron skillet with a baguette on the side. The idea here is to break open the baguette and either dip it in the broth or fill it yourself with the contents of the skillet. It’s a delicious way to enjoy the flavors of a bahn mi, and one that I would highly recommend. The skillet is filled with tasty bites and you’ll enjoy every last bit of it. The bahn mi chao is my recommendation if it’s your first time at Saigon Oi.

If you’re looking for something a little less unfamiliar but with the same amount of rich taste, you can try the rib eye steak with red rice. This is the priciest thing on the menu and will cost you a little over twenty bucks for the entree, but what you get is a perfectly cooked and seasoned steak with rice on the side. As a meat enthusiast, I couldn’t get enough of this flavor infused meat.

The banh canh cua is a crab meat udon soup. This bowl of wonderful is great if you enjoy the taste of the ocean or if you need something to warm you up on a cold day. The soup is a rich mix of seafood flavors and the udon is a great noodle to pair it with. Add in crab meat, shrimp, fish cake, and a quail egg and you’ll be in seafood heaven.

Though I haven’t had every single item on the menu (this is on my bucket list now though!), I can foresee that every single dish is a winner. I found out about this restaurant through it’s amazing reviews on Yelp and they weren’t wrong! Saigon Oi is the place to go if you’re looking for some top notch Vietnamese food.
