Tasty Pot in Natomas

Sacramento is getting some legit Asian fare, and that’s pretty awesome. One place to check out if you are into having hot pot is Tasty Pot in Natomas. You’ll find a delicious menu full of different hot pot styles that you’ll want to try.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with hot pot, it’s a style of dining where the food is brought to you boiling in a bowl. The bowl is contained in this device that constantly provides it heat so that it cooks the food at your table. Keep in mind that the food is not fully cooked with it arrives at the table. You’ll have to stir and mix it up in order for everything to finish. If you’re new to hot pot, just know that the food is supposed to come to you in a more raw form!

The purpose of this style of eating is so that you always have the food at its most hot and ready state to eat. It’s a unique way to dine, and it’s admittedly not for everyone, but I would suggest checking the experience out to see what it’s like at least once!

Tasty Pot is a very modern hot pot experience with flashy hot pots and a vibrant dining room. Even ordering isn’t done by the traditional wait staff. Here, you scan the QR code on the table and put your table’s order in through your mobile device. You even customize everything in this way. Now this doesn’t mean that you won’t have staff to help you with your order - the staff were in fact very attentive and accommodating. It’s just that the restaurant doesn’t need to have a full compliment of wait staff in order to function.

The food at Tasty Pot is very high quality, and they don’t skimp on giving you ingredients. The meat was certainly piled on my hot pot. With the quality of the ingredients being as they were, the mixture of everything together created a complex degree of flavor that I really enjoyed.

Hot pot isn’t a cheap night out. Each person’s hot pot will be around $17-$18 or so. If you want to add appetizers or drinks, it just goes up from there. Thankfully, the hot pots come with a refreshing choice of iced black or green tea. I found these complimentary drinks to be a perfect way to refresh myself from all the heat going on with my boiling hot pot.

Aside from hot pot, there are appetizers on the menu such as potstickers and chicken wings. I went for the potstickers on my visit and they were magnificently crunchy on the outside with a hot interior full of delicious filling. For you milk tea lovers out there, Tasty Pot has their own in-house milk tea cafe to order your favorite milk tea. I went with the taro one and I wasn’t disappointed at all. In fact, the milk tea rivals that of full-on boba cafes.

I certainly would recommend Tasty Pot to anyone looking for the real-deal hot pot experience. I was honestly shocked how good Tasty Pot turned out to be! I’m not used to Sacramento having something like this, but maybe I should get used to this as more and more quality restaurants come to the area!
