Tree House Cafe
The Tree House Cafe in West Sacramento is a small, but extraordinary place to grab your breakfast or lunch. Its charming vibe, friendly service, and outstanding food will keep you wanting to come back again and again. Located close to the Ziggurat (the big pyramid shaped building next to the river), the Tree House can easily be missed as its exterior is similar to some of the residential houses nearby. Make sure you put their address right into your map app so you can get to this gem of a restaurant! It’s well worth the visit.
The Tree House Cafe features a menu full of delicious breakfast items, sandwiches, and salads. There’s also a seasonal menu that is offered off to the side, so make sure you check that out or ask for a recommendation. The restaurant features a chef that carefully prepares each plate that comes out. I appreciate that some expertise is on site to make the meals at a level that is above your typical brunch diner. The quality of the food is evident when you see and (most importantly) taste it.
Breakfast items include favorites such as breakfast burritos, omelettes, avocado toast, and yogurt. If you’re vegan, there’s even a vegan breakfast burrito option for you.
Sandwiches are the featured lunch items, and they have pulled pork, a caprese panini, and one called the Yo Adrian which has smoked chicken thigh, provolone, tomato, red onion, and basil pesto on a toasted ciabatta.
On my visit to the Tree House Cafe I was lucky enough to run into the owner of the restaurant. After a brief tour of the Tree House, he recommended the BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado) sandwich as it is a favorite of patrons who visit often. So I gave it a try.
And wow this was not like any BLTA I’ve ever had. First of all, the bread was round and perfectly toasted. The sandwich had large strips of bacon poking out from the inside and featured gochujang aioli to really take it over the top. This sandwich was amazing and completely took me by surprise. I enjoyed every single bite of that sandwich and I sit here typing wishing for another bite!
As it was a rainy winter day, I ordered their red curry squash soup that was featured on their specials menu. Let me tell you that it was the perfect thing to have on a cold day. The soup was fresh and was bursting with flavor. Again, this was unlike anything that I’ve had before, and I could tell that this meal was created by a chef that takes pride in their craft. Their signature was all over the food. Really amazing.
The Tree House is a unique cafe and a place that I would certainly recommend. The food stands out from amongst the crowd, and I can’t wait for my next visit. If you find yourself in West Sacramento, give the Tree House Cafe a visit. The word is spreading on what a great place this is! Don’t be left behind!
