Cattlemens

Cattlemens has been around for a long time and is a California steakhouse chain with locations from Selma to Redding. When in the Sacramento area, you’ll often see the big Cattlemens’ sign off the freeway when you’re near Dixon, Rancho Cordova, or Roseville. For me, these signs bring back great memories as the restaurant has been a place to celebrate birthdays, graduations, and other fun events.

I have frequented Cattlemens for years and it has always been an outstanding place to get a steak dinner. Cattlemens specializes in beef and they have a number of different cuts - just as you’d expect from any steakhouse. My personal favorite cut is New York, but you can also get prime rib, filet mignon, and rib eye amongst others. The steaks are cooked to your preference and typically come with your choice of side. I recommend the baked potato as it is large, fluffy, and pairs very well with the steak. You just can’t go wrong with a great steak and a potato!

The usual dinner at Cattlemens also features bread, salad, and beans as starters on the table. The bread comes out hot and fresh with butter. The salad comes in a nice large family sized bowl so that you can share with the entire table. It isn’t pre-dressed - each diner gets their own dressing to add their desired amount. The beans come in a little heated pot and makes a great extra side item with your main meal. I love these starters because they really round out the dinner experience and give you good value when you come to dine. If you run low on any of these items you can always ask for more!

If you’re really hungry, there are other appetizers available to order as well. You can get anything from wings to calamari to fried onions. There is a nice selection of these types of appetizers to share if you’d like something a bit more filling and flavorful.

For non-steak lovers, the menu is wide enough to include chicken dishes, pasta, as well as seafood items. I wouldn’t worry too much if you’re wondering what to eat besides steak. There are plenty of things that look great! I myself am inclined to try the jumbo shrimp entree. It looks amazing!

As I mentioned before, Cattlemens is a great restaurant to celebrate special occasions. Certain days like father’s day and valentine’s day can get pretty packed. Everybody seems to want to go to Calttlemens to celebrate. So if you’re wanting to do so as well, be sure to make a reservation or else you’ll probably be out of luck.

Cattlemens may not be the highest end steakhouse around, but for most families, it’s the perfect choice for a great dinner out of the house. I have found the staff to be helpful and friendly, and I’ve always left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. You can’t ask much more than that!

I’m so happy that we have Cattlemens here in Northern California. It’s a franchise that I’d happily frequent whenever I’m feeling like a juicy steak - which is quite often!
