Cafeteria 15L

Cafeteria 15L is a modern and trendy restaurant in the heart of downtown Sacramento just across from the Capitol Rose Garden. It has a very spacious dining area that is split into many different sections including an outside patio and a private club area. Whether you’re here for an event or Sunday brunch, Cafeteria 15L will give you a positive dining experience.

The food at Cafeteria 15L is modern American cuisine that infuses aspects of different regions from around the world. One of my favorite dishes here is actually a salad - the Thai steak salad. The delightful salad gives you a nice cool meal with absolutely delicious pieces of steak on the top. It’s the perfect meal for a hot day in Sacramento. The salad comes on a bed of cold noodles. That, in combination with the expertly-cooked meat is the perfect balance of light and hearty. I’d order this dish just about anytime!

Lately, I’ve been in the mood for fried chicken and waffles… and Cafeteria 15L has their own version of it. The chicken and waffles comes with beautifully soft and warm waffle with pecan butter and syrup. The waffle is a big stand out that I’d happily eat by itself. The chicken comes breaded and fried and provides a very hearty meal that will fill you up. It’s smothered in beef gravy to be extra savory. I actually found it to be a little too much for me, but it was still a stand out dish.

For kids, Cafeteria 15L has a very sweet little menu that allows kids to eat at a very good price. It’s about ten bucks for a kids meal and they don’t skimp on it! My son got the mac n’ cheese and it was a very nice portion of pasta. It also came with a drink, a side of veggies, and a cookie for dessert!

Being careful parents, we questioned whether the cookie had any nut products in it. It was a chocolate chip cookie, but just in case, the nice folks over at Cafeteria 15L switched it out for some nice vanilla ice-cream. I thought that was really nice of them to do so.

In fact, he service all around was top notch. Our waiter was very attentive and came over to check on us regularly. I asked for extra sauces and he happily brought them over. The service and atmosphere certainly enhance the eating experience at this restaurant.

Though it’s a great experience, Cafeteria 15L comes in toward the upper-mid range in terms of price. I wouldn’t come here looking to load up on a budget.

But I do highly recommend checking it out as the dishes are worth it!
