Cafe Bernardo

Cafe Bernardo is a restaurant that you’ll find around the Sacramento area. There are locations in Davis, Roseville, and within Sacramento proper. They provide a nice array of dishes that are great for breakfast and lunch. It’s a restaurant that’s both casual and elevated, and is a place that’s great for to enjoy with friends and family.

Dining at Cafe Bernardo is laid back, but there’s also an elegance to the restaurant that elevates the experience. The staff, decor, and atmosphere are excellent. At times it can feel as though you’re eating out on vacation. Thankfully, the price of the food here doesn’t have a premium price. I found that the dishes were very reasonable and even a little less than I would have initially thought.

My personal favorite time to come to Cafe Bernardo is at lunch. Their lunch menu has a good amount of options that always look intriguing to me. You can order salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and even pasta dishes. Today I felt like a burger so I went for their habanero burger. The burger is cooked to your preference and comes with a very soft brioche bun. Though it’s a habanero burger, I didn’t get a lot of spicy heat that I was expecting. It’s not that the burger didn’t taste good - as it was very tasty - but it just lacked the punch of heat I was expecting from its name.

The price of the burger was just under $13 which was a fair price for a restaurant burger. You have the option to add fries or a salad for a couple bucks more each. I went ahead and did that to round out the meal. It made for a great lunch.

Looking at the menu, I found a number of items that caught my eye. These include their Thai noodle salad, Cubano sandwich, spicy fennel sausage pizza, and their stroganoff. What I like about these items is that they have very different flavor profiles. It’s always great to find a variety of dishes to enjoy rather than having everything be pretty much the same.

If you’re a fan of breakfast and brunch, Cafe Bernardo has you covered as it is very popular during the morning hours. In fact, on weekends the specialty is brunch and you will not be able to order much from the lunch menu at this time. It’s kind of a bummer because unless you’re wanting something sweet or egg-based, you’ll be out of luck. There was many-a-time when I went to Cafe Bernardo during brunch hours on a Sunday wanting something from their lunch menu. So just be mindful of that if you’re going on a weekend.
