Brasserie Du Monde
The K Street corridor is a part of Sacramento’s downtown that boasts a number of intriguing restaurants to visit. One restaurant that caught my eye after walking by the IMAX Theater was Basserie Du Monde - a French restaurant with gorgeous exterior seating. I looked over the menu and recognized a number of items I actually learned about while taking French in high school. I made a mental note to try this place on a future date. The future date turned out to be the next day.
As I have already mentioned, the exterior seating at Brasserie Du Monde is gorgeous. It’s covered with beautiful yellow tents as well as trees to provide extra shade from the hot Sacramento sun. The tables have a smooth marble texture to them and the seats are comfortable. This area makes for great people watching as you enjoy your meal. The interior is just as nice. It is kept well and has a classic look that feels timeless. No matter where you choose to have your meal here, the choice will be a good one.
Brasserie Du Monde has both a lunch and dinner menu. Coming in for lunch, I was able to experience their sandwiches. I immediately decided on a croque monsieur for my main meal. This was an item that my French teachers would always talk about so I naturally just had to go or it. A croque monsieur is a hot sandwich with French ham, gruyere, bechamel, cornichons (pickled cucumbers), and dijon on house brioche. The sandwich came out piping hot with the cheese perfectly melted on top. This thing was heavenly. Now I know why French teachers brought it up so much - it is absolutely fantastic.
The fries on the side were no joke either! I’m pretty picky about fries, and these were seasoned and crispy, just as they should be. Both items on the plate were outstanding and made for a perfect lunch.
I wanted to give a little more of the menu a try so I decided on trying their oeufs mimosa - deviled eggs. Just like the croque monsieur, this item was delicious. Besides the deviled eggs, there are also capers, cornichons, and crispy prosciutto added to elevate the appetizer.
Looking at the dinner menu, there are so many things to try! If you’re into oysters, caviar, or beef tartare, it’s here for you!
While not an inexpensive place to dine, the prices at Brasserie Du Monde are not outrageous. Most of the items on the menu are priced so that you can afford a special night out on the town. A couple of the steak dishes hover around the fifty dollar mark, but most items are well below that.
Brasserie Du Monde is a really cute place to dine at. Its selection of French food gives the people of Sacramento a taste of the French culture.
