Azayaka Japanese Fusion

I’ll just start by saying that I was floored by Azayaka Japanese Fusion. The food here is top notch, fresh, and gorgeously presented. If quality is something you crave, Azayaka Japanese Fusion may be the place that you have to go.

Stepping into the restaurant, you’ll see a nice sized dining area as well as bar seating for sushi. We took a seat at a dining table and were promptly given water and menus. The restaurant had just opened, but everything was already running smoothly.

We ended up ordering a hamachi donburi, an Azayaka lobster roll, vegetable tempura, and some California rolls. It was plenty of food (probably too much for two) and a good sample of what they have to offer here.

The hamachi donburi was incredible. The fish on it was fresh and was of a good portion size. My friend who came with me to the restaurant doesn’t give praise very often and even he was impressed with the food quality. It was so good that he even immediately ordered another hamachi donburi to go for his wife to try. I was floored!

The Azayaka lobster roll was a thing of art. This large roll is filled with a tempura style lobster with sashimi on the top. It is decorated with a number of unique garnishes and sauces. This roll was not only beautiful, but also a meal in and of itself.

As for the vegetable tempura, it was fried perfectly. My only wish was that there were less starchy veggies included. There were a number of sweet potato slices that unbalanced the dish a bit.

So why order California rolls? Well, I like to see how well a place does the simple things.

And of course Azayaka passed the test. The California rolls were excellent. They were put together with care and didn’t fall apart as some tend to do. Even with a simple roll such as this, time and energy were used to make it really stand out.

Azayaka Japanese Fusion stands out amongst Japanese restaurants. I can’t remember being so impressed by one in recent memory.

If you love Japanese food, Azayaka is a restaurant you need to add to your list to visit. Really great stuff here!
