Sizzler

I get a lot of flack for loving Sizzler… but every time I bring a group to this restaurant it turns out to be a deliciously good time.

Sizzler is a restaurant that most people remember going to with their family when they were kids. People will remember there being a salad bar and that’s about it. It’s definitely not a trendy place for Instagram foodies to go to. But all those folks are missing out… and so are you if you haven’t been in a while!

Sizzler’s main attraction is their large salad bar. But don’t let the name fool you… it’s not just salad! It also includes hot food, pastas, soup, fruit, and dessert. If all you got was the salad bar on your visit to Sizzler, you’d be good to go. In fact, if you go to Sizzler, the salad bar is a must order. You can order it by itself or added onto one of their entrees. There’s a very nice discount on the salad bar if you tack it onto an entree so I’d recommend that route. One thing I used to do is order the salad bar with an entree and then just pack the entree to bring home.

When you head over to the salad bar, you get a clean plate and begin piling on. I love starting with a fresh salad, and Sizzler offers a variety of ingredients that you can add to your salad. I’ve got my salad down to a science, and it all ends with a nice drizzle of ranch on the top. I am also a huge fan of their tuna salad and mac salad. I usually hit these up first.

Heading over to the hot food section, you can pick up some delicious chicken wings, potato wedges, make your own pasta dish, get some soup, or even create your own taco. My personal favorites are the chicken wings and potato wedges as they savory and crispiness of these items compliments the salad really well.

In terms of entrees, Sizzler has a large menu of American classics such as steak, ribs, burgers, and even sea food. Overall the entrees aren’t anything special, and I wouldn’t expect them to wow anyone. They do, on occasion, have all-you-can eat shrimp which is a pretty big hit. I can eat a million of those little fried shrimp that they have!

To end the meal you can get the soft serve in a dish or in a cone - it’s up to you! I, however, recommend the chocolate pudding. It’s my absolute favorite chocolate pudding that I’ve ever had. Don’t sleep on it! And while you’re at it, try the ambrosia salad. It’s a marshmallow salad with fruit. This dish was popular 60 years ago, and it’s definitely not for everyone, but this is one of the only places I’ve seen it offered.

Sizzler is just as good, if not better, than it was in your memory. The location in Natomas is exceptionally clean and well-kept. I love that location and highly recommend checking it out.

Here’s a last secret tip for you. Make sure you ask for the cheese bread when your server comes to you. It used to be given out, but now is an item you must request. It comes complimentary with the meal so make sure you get some!
