Kasbah

In the heart of midtown Sacramento sits Kasbah, a middle-eastern restaurant that has a beautiful interior, delicious food, and live entertainment to hit all of your senses. This charming restaurant brought surprise after surprise as the dinner went on. It was thoroughly a great night out at Kasbah, and it is a restaurant that I’d like to circle back to in the very near future.

The first thing I noticed when walking into Kasbah was the uniquely styled dining area. There’s a large bar area that fills in the back to the middle of the main dining room as well as tables for customers to sit at. Along the side walls are inset pillowed areas where you can enjoy a meal in a more comfortable fashion. Unfortunately, at the time we visited Kasbah those spots were already spoken for so we sat at a standard table. I’ll definitely try to get a spot on the wall the next time I go.

Kashba’s menu isn’t huge, but there are more than enough choices to satisfy. We got started with some cocktails and a Harisa Chili Chicken Wings. I’m not sure what Harisa Chili is, but the chicken came out with a very dark color. It also had some a little tangy and spice notes as well. The chicken looked like it might have been too hot (spicy) to handle, but it actually wasn’t at all. The flavor was outstanding and the spicy level was pretty low. Polishing off a plate of these wings would be no trouble at all.

For my main meal I went with the beef shawarma. This dish came with a bed of hummus, mixed greens, tomatoes, and a couple pieces of pita bread. The beef shawarma was on the top of the hummus and I used all the ingredients to create a little sandwich with my pita bread. My only complaint was that the two pieces of pita bread were relatively small, so I couldn’t make too many little sandwiches! Other than that the flavors were fantastic.

If you’re into Mediterranean style or middle eastern flavors, Kasbah has you covered!

As dinner was going on a live band played music while a belly dancer performed all around the dining hall. One of my friends who came with me that evening actually knew the dancer personally. They did an awesome job and it was really fun to watch. Only a very few places in town have performances during dinner - this is one of them.

Our visit to Kasbah was on a very cold winter evening, but on warmer Sacramento nights it would be great to kit and relax on their patio. There is a ton of space inside and out of the restaurant to just hang out and enjoy a great meal.

All-in-all Kasbah has a lot going for it and it’s a restaurant you should definitely try!
