Delhi Oven

Hidden away and tucked in a back corner of Natomas is Delhi Over. This gem of a restaurant is unassuming, but has some of the best Indian food in town. Smooth and flavorful with dishes from across India, Delhi Over is a must-visit restaurant.

The menu at Delhi Oven is very large with a huge number of items that you can order. And if you’re not a fan of India food, they even have a Championz Pizza connected to the restaurant that you can order from. My friend’s husband did exactly that on one particular visit to Delhi Oven. He got a pepperoni pizza and had a great time with us!

But back to the Indian food side of things…

Delhi Oven has the best chicken tikka masala in town. The sauce is so creamy and smooth. It makes for the perfect compliment for their naan bread or rice. I just kept eating and eating it without stopping. I was very sad when I found that I had eaten the whole thing.

The naan at Delhi Oven can be had in a number of variations. There’s plain, butter, garlic, garlic chili, aloo, gobi, and paneer. I found the plain naan to be on par with naan offerings from other Indian restaurants, but their flavored naan is ahead of the pack. The char they have adds that extra bit of flavor and texture that sets it over the top.

In the Southern India portion of the menu, you can order a dosa. A dosa is a savory crepe with potato inside. Depending on what you like there are different variations to try. The dosas kind of look like huge burritos and will make a great meal as they can be quite filling. This dish comes with sauces to dip as well as a lentil soup.

To end the meal, there is a tempting freezer across from the register that has gelato style ice cream. There were many flavors in the case that I had no idea what the taste would be like. I ended up getting tutti fuitti and chikoo. The texture of the gelato was soft and there were bits of fruit within.

If you’d like an adventure in taste, Delhi Oven is one of the highest recommended restaurants in town. It may not look like much on the outside, but this restaurant packs a huge punch when it comes to what they deliver on with their food.

Delhi Oven has a huge menu, and it’s hard to find anything on it that isn’t good! If you’re starting off on your Indian food journey, I’d suggest getting the tikka masala with a side of flavored naan. You’ll want to come back for more guaranteed!
