Tuk Tuk Thai Street Food

You’ll find Tuk Tuk Thai Street Food in a strip mall on Freeport Blvd across from Land Park. It’s a small restaurant, but the flavors here are BIG. The relatively small menu here makes sure that each item that they offer is flavorful and delicious. It’s certainly a favorite of people in the neighborhood because on my visit the restaurant was abuzz with customers eating in as well as picking up take-out.

As the name suggests, this is a Thai restaurant. And as I said, their menu isn’t deep - but it does have many Thai favorites. They have rice bowls that feature thai basil, eggplant, pork belly, and mango chicken. Green curry and yellow curry is on the menu… and of course there’s Pad Thai and drunken noodles.

I decided to start my meal here with their Thai egg rolls. The egg rolls are of the vegetarian variety and come piping hot right out of the fryer. This appetizer is enough for 2-3 people and tasted delicious as they were served out to me. I loved the fry on them and it was a great dish to start off my meal. I actually was considering giving the potstickers or fresh spring rolls a try, but they’ll have to wait until I return… which is definitely going to happen!

I had a really hard time selecting my main course as everything on the menu looked amazing. I ended up going with the Pad Thai because it’s such as staple of Thai restaurants. The cashier asked my heat level and gave me a choice of no spice, mild, medium, and hot. I decided to go with mild.

After a short while my order came out and I was able to give the Pad Thai a try. And wow. This Pad Thai had some heat to it! I’d say that their ‘mild’ is other peoples’ ‘medium-hot’. The heat level was pronounced, but I was able to still enjoy the food. I can’t imagine what their medium or hot would be like. If you’re tame on heat level, I’d certainly recommend that you go for no heat when they ask.

Other than the heat level, the dish was excellent. It was very wet with a nice amount of chicken (my protein of choice today). I also found that they portion size was quite nice as it really filled me up.

To wash everything down I chose to try their coconut water. As it turns out they don’t just sell a can. They pour their own coconut water into their plastic bottle and seal it themselves. Their coconut water was very light and refreshing.

I was pretty full after my appetizer and noodle dish, but for dessert lovers Tuk Tuk offers mango sticky rice as a sweet finisher. Mango sticky rice is a very popular Thai dessert and it’s great that they offer it here.

It’s hard to go wrong if you’re in the mood or Thai Food at Tuk Tuk. The restaurant is clean with good service and a no-nonsense delivery. I’m happy to recommend it!

Though I had my meal ‘for-here’, they all came in to-go packaging.
